How it Started with SmartLand

It Started on April 2019

It all started in April 2019 when SmartLand was chosen with 16 other startups out of 62 applicants to be part of the Berytech Agrytech Program, funded by Berytech - Lebanon’s ecosystem for entrepreneurs and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Lebanon.

Berytech’s Agrytech Program aims to source the top startups with disruptive innovations in the Agri-Food sector and provide them with the adequate technical and business resources as well as community support to scale their ideas into successful businesses with global impact.

And SmartLand Did it!

For phase 1, selected startups were given the opportunity to build a minimum viable product over a two-month period. Only eleven of these startups made it to phase 2 and went into a 4-month acceleration program to validate their concept. Shortly after, SmartLand made it to the phase 3 together with 5 other finalists, joining a 6-month incubation program, to experience potential internationalization, and benefit from investment.

SmartLand has been since working relentlessly on an automated irrigation and fertigation system with the main objective of limiting water waste and improving the quality and quantity of yield in agriculture.
